Viator announces Viator Operator Resource Center to help operators grow their businesses and stay informed of industry trends.

Last week, OTA Viator unveiled their new blog -the Viator Operator Resource Center in an effort to help activity and tour operators grow their businesses, optimize their product listings, and keep abreast of industry and Viator trends.

In an email to its suppliers, Viator urged operators to ‘visit the center for tips on managing your business, industry updates, news about Viator, and a library of webinars.’

The center they claim ‘is home for the latest industry trends, best practices for your business, and tips on capturing traveler attention. Our content will help you optimize your tours and activities to provide the best experiences possible. Be sure to check in regularly.’

Tourpreneur caught up with Viator spokesperson Feria Kazemi to find out more.

  1. How did this all get started? What is your mission with the new blog?
We launched the Operator Resources Center in 2017. You may recognize it under its previous name, Tripadvisor Experiences Insights.
  2. In the past, some Viator sessions have only been available to Viator customers, why the change?
The operator resources center has always been available to operators working with Viator and the wider industry. If you mean the operator webinar series, registration may be limited to operators working with Viator.
  3. I am excited by your webinars, what topics are coming up?
Thank you, we’re excited about our operator webinar series too. A list of our upcoming sessions is available here.
Feria informs us that we can also view past webinars by scrolling past the upcoming sessions.
  4. Will the data you present be based on Viator data or will it include looking at the wider market?
We highlight trends and insights that’ll be valuable for our partners, whether that’s from Viator, Tripadvisor, or the wider industry.
  5. Is this really free? I mean the data and content look very useful, do you plan to charge a subscription for this at some point?
Yes. It’s always been free and we have no current plans for this to change.

The Viator Operator Resource Center offers four pillars of content to explore.

1 – Tips for Growing and Managing My Business

This section includes ‘tips and best practices on how to put your business in a position to succeed.’ Also includes articles about managing availability, increasing product quality, attracting customers, and more.

Articles include topics such as:

Unsure or confused about Viator’s new quality standards, the news center of the Viator Operator resources includes articles such as:

The Tourpreneur Take

In a world of paywalls and paid subscription-only resources, Viator should be commended for delivering free resources and industry data to not just their own customers but to the wider industry. Their new blog is a good start and we hope Viator continues to invest in their operator center to help activity and tour businesses to grow.
