GetYourGuide will not charge tour operators to list new tours and activities.
GYG CEO and Co-Founder Johannes Reck has confirmed that the Berlin-based OTA GetYourGuide will not charge tour operators to upload products to its tours and activities platform.
At the June 30th Skift Forum Europe (Virtual) event, Reck told Skift’s Senior Travel Tech Editor Sean O’Neill ‘“I think imposing any type of fee in this point in time is just not something that’s timely or should be done or will help the customer in any shape or form.”

Last week rival OTA Viator announced they are to start charging tours and activities a $29 fee for any new products uploaded onto their platform from August 1.
Viator President Ben Drew explained the move in an interview with Arival.
“We’re not making a profit on thisBen Drew, President, Viator
What we’re doing here for new listings is covering the cost of having a team member review the listing and work with the operator to make it as good as possible. We find the highest quality listings get three times as many bookings, so this is something that should pay for itself many times over and ultimately benefit the operator.”
At the June Skift event, Reck also claimed that GetYourGuide ‘have a huge advantage over bigger brands like Google, Booking.com, TUI, and Tripadvisor because the complexity of the experiences business requires a singular focus.’
